The University of Toronto Sports Hall of Fame inducted three Peterborough athletes on May 25.
The 34th induction class included 12 persons, six Varsity Blues teams, and women’s hockey star Andria Hunter.
After graduating from New Hampshire, Hunter joined the Blues as a graduate student. She won the Rookie Award, two scholar-athlete honors, and two ECAC titles with UNH.
“Looking back through my hockey photo albums, what stood out about our team was how tight-knit we were,” Hunter remarked at the ceremony. We enjoyed ourselves on and off the ice. I think this helped us bond and succeed on the ice.”
Five-time first-team All-Star she totaled 123 points in 55 career games.
In 1992-93, she led the Swiss league with 87 points in 20 games. She scored third in the 1992 World Championship in Tampere, Finland, when Team Canada won gold. She won gold again with Team Canada at Lake Placid in 1994. In 2002, the Mississauga Ice Bears finished 3rd in NWHL league scoring.
Hunter and Rosenberg were both honored with the Blues’ 1990-91 and 1991-92 women’s hockey teams.
Nepotiuk, a retired teacher and longtime soccer coach at St. Peter’s Secondary School, played for the Varsity Blues during their five-year OQAA title streak in the mid to late 1960s. They lost one game in five years.

Nepotiuk represented the 1967-68 and 1968-69 teams in the ceremony. Nepotiuk praised coach Ernie Glass, represented by his son Jamie, for his leadership.
“He never yelled or screamed at anyone,” claimed Nepotiuk. He imparted his work ethic and positivity. No prima donnas or egos.”
Nepotiuk stated the squad played 26 games, won 25, tied one, and lost none in three undefeated intercollegiate seasons.
He thanked the University of Toronto for its sports program, which gave his squad a beautiful ride. “A true honor.”
