On Friday, St. Marys Little League All-Star softball defeated Potter/McKean 15-1 in four innings to avoid elimination.
St. Marys pitcher Violet Eckels struck out 12 and walked three in four innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run.
Adelyn O’Dell went 2-for-2 with a double, triple, and four RBIs. Isabella Wykoff went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Laynee Walker’s two-RBI single and O’Dell’s triple gave them a 4-0 lead in the first. Wykoff had two two-RBI singles in St. Marys’ six-run first inning.
10 walks helped St. Marys outhit Potter/McKean 7-3 and score in every inning.
They added two more in the top of the second when O’Dell’s RBI double drove in Ashlyn Beimel and he scored on a dropped strike three for an 8-0 advantage.
St. Marys scored three more runs in the third without a hit as Beimel, Eckels, and O’Dell all earned bases-loaded walks. Joclyn Eckert’s two-RBI single to right scored Beimel and Eckels to make it 13-0.
St. Marys scored two more runs in the fourth to reach 15-0, triggering the mercy rule. St. Marys led 15-0 after Ava Keebler scored on a passed ball and Kylee Morgan groundout.
Potter/McKean scored only one run as St. Marys won 15-1 in four innings.
St. Marys will play DuBois again on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Heindl Field to avoid elimination. In four innings, DuBois defeated them 18-1 to start the District 10 tournament.
DuBois defeated Elk/McKean (Kane and Johnsonburg) 18-0 in three innings Friday night to win the rematch with St. Marys.
