It won’t be until the summer before Kenny Johnson can call himself a Pitt Panther, but as he finishes off his senior year at Dallastown Area High School, he’s demonstrating that there is an amazing talent on the way to the Steel City shortly.
This past weekend, the Pitt pledge participated in the Big 33 Game, which is an annual high school all-star game that pairs the best players from Maryland against the best players from Pennsylvania.
He was named the tournament’s most valuable player after dominating the competition, which resulted in Pennsylvania claiming a dramatic 31-27 victory against Maryland.

Johnson racked up an otherworldly stat line, which included nine receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown. This score, which was tallied with 1 minute and 15 seconds remaining in the tournament, proved to be the deciding factor.
It was a tricky grab that required him to go over his shoulder, and the defensive back was covering him the entire way down the field, making it much more tough. But it didn’t matter.
Johnson, who is from Dallastown, Pennsylvania and is a member of the class of 2023, possesses three stars. According to Rivals’ rankings, he was the No. 13 player in the state and the No. 90 wide receiver overall in the class. In the end, he decided to attend Pitt rather than other schools such as Penn State, West Virginia, Rutgers, Louisville, Minnesota, or Virginia Tech.
