Beginning in the autumn, when the football team went 0-10 and was outscored by an average of 45-3, the downward spiral began. The basketball team continued its losing streak into the winter. The spring record of the baseball team was 2-16.

L.J. Rosa, a graduate of Leetonia High School, had a front-row location for the arduous football and basketball seasons. He is now playing for the Ohio All-Stars in the Penn-Ohio Stateline Classic on June 22 at Salem’s Sebo Stadium.

Rosa stated, “I assume we simply did not have enough people this year.” “Again, I was one of the few seniors who played, so it’s certainly difficult.

The athletic seasons of the Leetonia lads were less than stellar.

We started a large number of freshmen on the line. Our athletic director and coach did not get along, but we did our absolute best. I must still acknowledge what my team accomplished for me during my senior year. I advance to the subsequent level.”

In the autumn, Rosa, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive lineman, will pursue his football and academic careers at West Liberty University. He stated that he is currently undecided regarding his specialization but is inclined toward mechanical engineering.

Despite the recent struggles of the Bears, Rosa’s experience at Leetonia was not entirely negative. The 2020 COVID season was one of the finest in recent memory for the Bears, who finished 7-2 and shared the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference championship with United and Southern.

Rosa stated, “I’ve attended this school my entire life, with the exception of the 2020 season when there was a very long line and Marco Ferry.”

There is still a chance for Rosa to end his high school tenure as a victor. Ohio’s roster is extremely extensive, with state championship pedigree and Div. I-bound skill position players.

Rosa stated, “I competed against many of these men in basketball, track, and football.” “Many of them are captains of their own teams, and I became tight with a number of them throughout the year. I’m looking forward to it tremendously, and we should be formidable.”
